Facing Interviews: Selectors Criticisms Of The Candidates
These are most common reasons given by the interviewers for not
selecting a candidate. Make sure that you do not fall in any of
these categories. They say that the candidates: -
· Did not prepare well for the interview. They did not even know
the latest developments in the field of our interest. This shows
lack of interest in their own field. How they will do in future?
· Failed to listen to questions asked / answered the wrong
question. Have got poor listening skills.
· Provided superfluous information and unnecessary detail, which
did not relate to the job description. They cannot be depended
upon, as they will always require guidance.
· Made negative comments about himself / showed low self-esteem.
· Made negative remarks about the company or the interviewers.
· Were poorly motivated - did not ask job related questions when
opportunity to ask questions was given to them. They did not
take opportunities to sell themselves.
· Showed poor face-to-face communication skills and lack of
confidence.
· Failed to maintain adequate eye contact, which means they are
hiding the facts or are lying and therefore cannot be relied
upon.
